I have accepted the The WeTree blog challenge to identify online databases that are available to me with my library card. So far I have not tried anything related to my genealogical 'obsession'. But I have discovered a valuable tool that will help Sarah and I prepare for our upcoming trip to Tuscany.
mango languages for libraries - an online language-learning system that will tutor me in Italian. It bills itself as 'the easiest way to learn a foreign language'. I have not tried this yet but rest assured I plan to try it out soon.
Some other interesting online tools available from my local library, most require library card barcode:
Ancestry Library edition (sadly only available in the library, not from home).
Biography Resource Centre
Canadian Periodical Index Canadian Reference Centre CBCA Reference
Consumer Reports
Discovering Collection for Classroom Support
(and that is just letters A-D) Stay tuned for more.
