Dinah GILBERT bap 15 Feb 1814 Sound Island, my 4th great-grandmother

Dinah GILBERT was baptised on Sound Island, Newfoundland Feb 15, 1814. Her parents were John and Mary Gilbert. We don't yet know her mother Mary's maiden name. She must have died while Dinah was a child, because her father John Gilbert remarried November 6, 1827 to Mary Ann BEAZLEY in Burin, Newfoundland.

Dinah married Henry BECK 26 September 1831, also on Sound Island. They had eight children, including Matilda BECK, baptised September 1837, who married Jonathan BOUTCHER on Sound Island in 1856.

Mystery Monday: Love Day's Love Child - Mary CHARLES bap. Feb 14, 1773 Over, Cambridgeshire

.
From the parish record transcipts of Over, Cambridgeshire:
1773 Feb 14 Mary spurious daughter of Mary CHARLES

Spurious = illegitimate, out of wedlock.

Mystery Monday - Our Mary Charles, daughter of Mary, will always have a mysterious father. There is unfortunately no way we will be able to determine who he was - he was not named in the parish records. Her mother Mary Charles is also a mystery - all we know is her name.

This Mary was my 5th great-grandmother.

Mary CHARLES married John COXALL Sept 26, 1796, in Over, Cambridgeshire. John Coxall was from Willingham, Cambridgeshire. They had nine children, including Jemima COXALL, who married John OSLAR.  The family spent many years in Waterbeach.

202nd Anniversary of Joshua Stugdale FARRAR and Sarah LOWE, St. Peters, Leeds

Joshua and Sarah Farrar were the 5th great-grandparents of my children.

Joshua Stogdale Farrar was baptised in 1787, son of Joshua FARRAR and Ann HUTCHINSON.
(Not sure where the Stogdale comes from. There is a Joshua Stogdale that married a Rachel Musgrave in St. Peters Leeds November 1927. Are the names a coincidence?)

He married Sarah LOWE at St. Peters in 1809. Sarah was christened at St. Peters in 1787, daughter of Samuel.

Their nine children were baptised at St. Peters over a twenty year span between 1809 and 1830.
Mary 1809
George 1811 (married Eliza ?)
William 1814 (married Sarah Dixon)
Joshua 1815 (died as an infant)
*Rachel  1816
Sarah 1819
Josiah 1821
Ann 1827
John 1830 (died as a teenager)

Their daughter Rachel bap. 1816 married Abraham NEILD there in 1835, just a couple of years before they rebuilt the parish church of St. Peters.

in 1841, Joshua Stugdale Farrar was a Slate River, which according to http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/s.html is someone who would cleave blocks of quarried slate in the making of slates for roofing and other uses.
