Feast Day of Saint Catherine of Siena

Our Catherines:

Catherine SNOOKE (bap 19 March 1699 Portsmouth), married 7 Feb 1722 to John OSLAND
her parents were John & Mary Snooke -- do not know when she or her husband died (after 1728)

Catherine WILKINS married 8 Oct 1712 to Robert PEACOCK Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire
we do not know her parents, or birth/baptism date

Catherine WISHART of Pittarow, Mearns, Scotland, married Alexander BARCLAY 1449

Catherine ?, married Daniel SICORD abt. 1696
- Many records say she was Catherine WOERTMAN, daughter of  Dirck Jans Woertman and Marrietje Denyse of Brooklyn, born  2 April 1677 in Brooklyn
- unfortunately, that Catherine WOERTMAN seems to have died as a child
- Other sources say she is Catherine WATERBROOKS, possibly dau. of Dennis and Elizabeth
I have found no evidence to support either claim, nor have I seen the actual marriage record of Daniel SICORD / SECORD / SYCART

 (something to explore later)

and her daughter Catherine SICORD born Oct 1704 in New Rochelle, married Daniel GIRAUD 1724
- also on ancestry, found a death date for her: 11 May 1771 in Yorktown, NY. I don't know the original source, but a nice place to start.

Catarina BOCCANEGRA married Nicola NEGRONE of Genoa
Catarina GRILLO married Filippo NEGRONE of Genoa
Catharina RORENBERG of Tartu, Estonia m. Götke HONERJÄGER of Lübeck

Happy 214th Anniversary Robert BALDREY and Sarah FIELD

Robert BALDRY was baptised in Denton, Norfolk on 16 Aug 1772. His parents were Thomas BALDRY and Sarah PAIN. Robert had at least two older siblings: Sarah (who married William Pallent)  and Thomas (who married Elizabeth).

History of Denton

Robert's father Thomas died in Denton in 1795. The following year, Robert BALDRY (my 5th great-grandfather)married Sarah FIELD, in Alburgh, Norfolk.

Sarah FIELD was the daughter of Samuel FIELD and Sarah SPURDENS.

The couple had eight children:

Mary Ann 1802
Harriett 1805 (my 4th great-grandmother) m. Robert MACKROW 1830
Emily 1808 m. Benjamin Pooley

Robert BALDREY died September 1839 in Depwade, Norfolk. He was listed at that time as a "coal porter".

In 1841 Sarah BALDREY was living with her youngest daughter Maria in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. She died May 8, 1843.

looking for her death, I found a digital image of her husbands death in Nov 1812. Some ancestry files list Dorthe's death/burial date to be the same as her husband. I have not found any evidence of her death in the Keldby records at that time

more about Henry LAMB of Ely, Cambridgeshire

Ok, so our LAMBs of Ely were associated not with the "Lamb Inn" but in fact with the Red Lion, a 17th century coaching inn in the village of Stretham, near Ely.

Cambridgeshire Chronicle, 19 March 1785, page 3.
HENRY LAMB takes this opportunity of acquainting the public, That he has lately removed from the SHIP INN in Ely, to the RED LION Inn there, and neatly fitted up the house, and laid in a quantity of right good fresh liquors of all kinds, where he hopes for a continuance of the favors of his friends, and those who chuse to honor him with their custom, may be assured of meeting with civil usage, and good accommodation and entertainment.
Littleport is six miles from Ely. This photo suggests there was some sort of murder at the Ship Inn, but I have been unable to find any details. Dutch landlords murdered by prisoners?

Henry LAMBs son-in-law William SHELVERTON, husband of Henry's daughter Mary LAMB, took over as innkeeper of the Red Lion in 1790. This was to be only for a short time - the inn and its contents were auctioned off in 1792.

For Easter - Elizabeth LAMB, chr. April 24 1696, Abdie, Fife

We have a line of LAMBs in Abdie, Fife in the 17th century.

Elizabeth Lamb was baptized on this day in 1696.
dau. of John Lamb bap 1673
son of William Lamb bap 1643
son of Robert Lamb

Elizabeth LAMB had brothers William and George.
She married Robert BEVERIDGE of Abdie on Aug 31, 1721.
They had at least 5 children:
John, David (our ancestor), William, Margaret, Richard and Janet.

Elizabeth's son David BEVERIDGE married Agnes KINGHORN in Abdie on 31 Dec 1748.
